Open Access Model
Intelligence, Informatics and Infrastructure is an open access journal. Every article is made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, with no embargo period and without requiring readers to register or pay. From Volume 8 (2027), all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Articles published up to Volume 7 (2026) remain free to read; the licence or terms applicable to each article are indicated on the article itself.
Article Processing Charge (APC)
A single Article Processing Charge of JPY 27,500 (including tax) applies to each accepted article and is invoiced after acceptance. The APC supports professional editorial handling, DOI registration, long-term archiving, and open dissemination.

Waivers and discounts. The journal considers APC waivers or discounts on a case-by-case basis, for example for authors who lack access to research funding. The corresponding author should request a waiver at the time of submission by contacting the editorial office at aisymposium@jsce.or.jp; the decision is made before acceptance is communicated.
The ability to pay, and any waiver or discount, plays no part in editorial decision-making. Peer review and acceptance are decided solely on scholarly grounds, separately from any fee arrangements.
Copyright & Licensing
Upon acceptance, authors sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement assigning copyright to the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE), the publisher of the journal. Notwithstanding this transfer, newly published articles are distributed under the CC BY 4.0 license, so that authors and readers may freely share and adapt the work with proper attribution.
Under CC BY 4.0, anyone may copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source, a link to the license is provided, and any changes are indicated. No separate permission is required for such reuse.
Self-archiving (Green OA): authors may deposit the published version of their article in an institutional or subject repository of their choice, and post it on personal or institutional webpages, with no embargo, provided the original publication in the journal is cited and linked.
Preprints: the journal permits and supports preprints. Authors may post the pre-review version of their manuscript on a recognised preprint server or repository — for example, arXiv, Jxiv, or J-STAGE Data — before or during submission; this is not treated as prior publication. Authors should disclose the preprint (with its DOI or URL) at submission and, once the article is published, update the preprint record to cite and link to the final published version.
Standards & Interoperability
- ▪ Machine-readable license information is embedded in each article's metadata.
- ▪ Reference lists are openly available in line with the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC).
- ▪ Articles are assigned DOIs (prefix 10.11532) and delivered in full-text JATS XML / HTML and PDF.
- ▪ Content is hosted on J-STAGE and preserved for the long term in the Portico digital-preservation archive.
